Typeface: refers to the overall design of a type. It includes all the styles within that type. For example, Helvetica, in its entirety, is classed as a typeface. Font: is a style (or file) within a typeface. For example, Helvetica Italic, or Helvetica Textbook Bold, are both fonts. They are fonts belonging to the Helvetica family/typeface.
